Nanocomposites
The work horse of Nanotechnology is the nanocomposite. Tiny nanoparticles are assembled and within a continuous matrix resulting in a macroscopic material. Critical factors are the type of nanoparticles, dispersion and surface coupling. Because the particles are so small, elegant self-assembly methods are often necessary. Each week, the US Patents and over 300 journals are scanned for Nanocomposite patents and articles. Internet links are made and listed below in Nanacomposite Patents and Articles. These links are, then, transfered to topic pages in an encyclopedia format for permanent storage. See Nanocomposites Topics below.

What's New
Li, Yan, Wu, Yu and Guo of the Wuhan Institute of Technology in China have developed a conductive polyaniline nanocomposite 50 nm nanospheres. containing 2-5 nm metal nanoparticles. The metal compounds dissovled in an aniline microemulsion and the aniline polymerized by a one-step oxidation process using PdCl2 or HAuCl4. Oxidation of aniline and the reduction of metal ion happened together during the reaction, yielding polymer and elemental metal simultaneously.
